Karl - Heavy Siege Mortar

Introducing Karl...

Karl is my version of a heavy siege mortar counting as bombard for my Imperial Guard Army. Today I glued it together and finished the paint job. Karl has done a tremendous job in my 40k games so far and his tally of destroyed enemy units ranges from tanks like Razorbacks, Rhinos, Falcons to entire squads of hapless Space Marines and Eldar.

Karl´s siege mortar can elevate up to 70° upwards and the rear access hatch can be opened or closed. I gave the mortar mount a cast iron-look using a stone effect spray, simelarly to the look of old steam trains.

I also started on Thor, Karl´s twin brother a while ago, but haven´t come around to finish it yet as the build of the gun cradle, mortar, etc. takes quite some time.

Taurus Pattern Armoured Personal Carrier (APC)

Here is my newest project, the Taurus Pattern APC for my 40k Imperial Guard!

Fluff: The Taurus Pattern APC is a wheeled variant of the common Chimera tank and is mainly used by specialised Imperial Guard Regiments for street fighting or reconaissance tasks in open terrain like sand deserts. While it shares many components with the Chimera, the Taurus four-wheeled design enables it to travel at much higher speeds on streets or any other flat terrain. Additionaly the wheeled suspension can be adjusted in height, allowing the Taurus to pass over rubble or other smaller obstacles when needed.

The Taurus is based on a cheap RC controlled-toy car from Playmobil, I´ll post pics and a little tutorial how to create your own Taurus soon. Oh and the Taurus actually drives thanks to the RC unit! I will post a video of it soon!

Necron Canoptek Tomb Crawler

I am proud to show you some pics of my newest project: the Necron Canoptek Tomb Crawler!

Fluff: Apart from the more common robotic Necron servants like scarabs, tomb spyders or tomb roaches, some tomb worlds host a plethora of even more alien and unsettling inhabitants. One of these servants is the Canoptek Tomb Crawler, a many limbed mechanoid being that slightly resembles an overscaled giant centipede. Tomb Crawlers can vary somewhat in size or in the number of their body segments. Most Crawlers feature about eight segments and sixteen legs, though much longer versions are not unheard of. These King Crawlers replace some of their legs with additional ranged weaponry to fire deadly broadsides, while charging head first into and through the midst of the enemy ranks invading their tomb world.

I wanted the model to be simple to build and also cheap, hence I used some of the techniques from my Tomb Roach and some leftover parts from my Necron Army build. I will also post a tutorial in the next days how to build your own Tomb Crawler, so stay tuned!
