X-Wing miniatures game: Correlian Courier Corvette (scratchbuild)

X-Wing miniatures game:

Today I present you the newest addition to the Rebel forces: the scratchbuild Correlian Courier Corvette!

Fluff: The Correlian Courier Corvette or nicknamed simply „3C“ was a small, but very fast courier and surveillance vessel that was often used by Rebel spies and smugglers.

With a length of 31.6m the Correlian Courier Corvette could hold three crew members and up to four passengers or a simelar amount of small sized cargo.
The ship was equiped with a Nexan hyperdrive and extensive set of long range sensors that could be used for transmitting or monitoring sources from long distances. The later ability made this ship a preferred asset for spies as it could jump into a remote part of a system, assess the situation and transmissions in a short time and then jump away before (Imperial) patrol crafts where able to arrive. Should the 3C be attacked it could defend itself with two forward laser cannons and a twin laser cannon turret on the upper hull.

The model: The model is entirely scratchbuild and consists of a main body made of the rear end of a Gundam twin gatling gun plus several parts of the biotoxin plant set for the engine and cockpit. The rest of the model was layered with bits from various sources. The base was scratchbuild from plastic card.
In game: The Correlian Courier Corvette is a ship that emphasizes speed but not manouverability. It is more suited to shake off pursuers rather than to engage in a dog fight. The 3C can defend itself 360° around however its armament is relatively weak. However it can use its crew and sensor options to give itself an edge in combat or boost its offensive capabilities and furthermore support its own fleet from afar. So far I have created four custom pilot cards for the 3C and some other necessary tokens.

Well hope you like it! Next week the Correlian Courier Corvette will hopefully be battle tested!

More X-Wing miniatures stuff: Battle pictures and WIP pictures

More X-Wing miniatures game stuff: Today I am showing you some pictures of the very first battles that involved the new Tie Bomber Mk2 and the Y-wing Mk2.

Both Mk2 ships managed very well in the battle, especially the Tie Bombers, who both outlastet their escorting Tie fighters by several rounds...Hey where´s my escort gone? :)

In two battles with 100 points each we counted one victory for the Rebel side and one for the Imperials.

And you might spot something else and quite big on the board, which is soon to be revealed... stay tuned!

Below I also added some WIP pics of the Mk2 ships prior to painting for those interested in the unpainted models.

More stuff is up tomorrow, stay tuned!

X-Wing: Scratchbuild Y-Wing Mk2

X-Wing miniatures game: I just recently finished this little scratchbuild fellow, so here it is: the Y-Wing Mk2 bomber

Fluff: The Y-Wing Mk2 was an attempt by rebel forces to increase survivability of the bomber shortly after the battle for the first Death Star. The battle there had shown some immanent weaknesses especially in engine design and rear protection of the Y-wing.
Four additional Ion Turbo Capacitators (ITC) were added next to the main fuselage to boost performance, two of each capacitators able to turbo charge each ion drive for a short period.
Some additional armour plating was added to the droid section and the main fuselage, especially the vulnerable rear section. After a small number of Y-Wing had been expensively upgraded to Mk2 the Rebellion forces were able to get a hold on the more powerful  B-Wing design and ceased retrofitting the Y-Wings.
The Mk2s saw action in a handful of raids against Imperial convoys and proved themselves worthy in combat but to expensive on the long term for the Rebels.

The model is totally scratchbuild using various bits from all kinds of kits, too many kits to list here, sorry. It will mostly likely remain a single build model to accompany my X-Wings until reinforcements arrive. I think it turned out quite well and it will face battle soon :)

Hope you like it!
